Development of entrepreneurship is a key element of growth in any country. Science-based innovation play an important role in increase of entrepreneurship. In the paper in order to understand the nature of both entrepreneurship and innovation several definitions are described from different points of view. The practical part of the paper covers the research of volume of innovative enterprises in Poland as well as amount of money spent on innovation. The performance of the companies depends mainly how innovative they are.
